Clinic Director of SPL: Krinio Maitou, Graduate in Physiotherapy (A.TE.I. of Patras)

Welcome to Supreme Physio Lab

Supreme Physio Lab, a contemporary physiotherapy lab created by Evagelos S Dimou, owner of Chiropractic and Podiatry Clinic. SPL is an elegant ground floor clinic located right beside our existing premises in Ano Glyfáda, at 2 Paleon Polemiston street. Our facilities provide 3 consultation and treatment rooms, with disabled access and it is operated by fully qualified physiotherapists.

The SPL team is “the right hand” of the Chiropractic and Podiatry teams. It deals with a wide spectrum of orthopaedic pathologies, neurological cases, sport injuries, accidents and post operatative protocols. All these with the aid of physical modalities such as heat, cold, mobility, water, magnetism, electricity, ultrasound and many more.

What is Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a healthcare science that uses physical methods such as movement, water, electrical stimulation and other natural modalities for therapeutic purposes. Delivered by qualified physiotherapists, physiotherapy focuses on restoring, maintaining and improving a patient’s mobility, strength and overall physical function.

It plays a key role in rehabilitation, injury recovery and the management of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, helping patients return to an active and pain-free lifestyle.

Our goals in Physiotherapy

The main objectives of physiotherapy treatment include:

  • Returning individuals to daily or sporting activities as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Improving biomechanics in different areas of the body to optimise movement efficiency.
  • Correcting faulty movement patterns that may negatively affect quality of life or athletic performance.

Through personalised rehabilitation programmes, we aim to enhance mobility, reduce pain and support long-term physical wellbeing.

Treatment approach

A trained physiotherapist achieves these goals through a variety of evidence-based methods, with treatment delivered using non-invasive techniques.

  • Comprehensive patient assessment is the most important step. This is based on advanced knowledge of anatomy and a detailed analysis of the human body and its movement patterns. Understanding how the body moves, allows the physiotherapist to identify the root cause of pain or dysfunction.
  • Targeted intervention through a carefully designed and personalised treatment programme. Each rehabilitation plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring effective recovery, improved mobility and long-term results.

Physical therapy modalities

These personalised treatment programmes are delivered using a range of evidence-based physical therapy modalities, including:

  • Movement Therapy (Kinesiotherapy)
  • Heat Therapy
  • Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy)
  • Hydrotherapy (Water Therapy)
  • Laser Therapy
  • Electrotherapy (TENS)
  • Magnetotherapy
  • Ultrasound Therapy

These non-invasive physiotherapy techniques help reduce pain, improve circulation, accelerate tissue healing and restore mobility. Each modality is selected according to the patient’s condition and integrated into a structured rehabilitation plan for optimal recovery.

Who can benefit from Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is suitable for patients across all medical specialties and age groups. It plays a vital role in rehabilitation, pain management and functional recovery in a wide range of conditions.

  • Orthopaedic Conditions: Physiotherapy is highly effective in treating musculoskeletal disorders, including spinal conditions such as lower back pain (lumbago) and neck pain (cervicalgia), peripheral joint injuries, tendonitis, tennis elbow (epicondylitis), frozen shoulder, and other joint or soft tissue injuries.
  • Neurological Conditions: Patients recovering from stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or peripheral nerve injuries can benefit from specialised neurological physiotherapy aimed at restoring mobility, balance and coordination.
  • Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Individuals recovering from surgery — such as ACL repair, Achilles tendon rupture, total hip replacement, knee replacement, or shoulder replacement — require structured physiotherapy programmes to regain strength, flexibility and full functional movement.
  • Sports Injuries: Athletes frequently rely on sports physiotherapy for conditions such as ankle sprains, muscle strains, meniscus injuries, ACL injuries, labral tears, rotator cuff injuries, muscle trauma and muscular imbalances. Treatment focuses on safe return to sport and injury prevention.
  • Rheumatological Conditions: Physiotherapy supports patients with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, helping reduce pain and maintain joint mobility.
  • Paediatric Conditions: Children with genetic, neurological or orthopaedic conditions benefit from specialised paediatric physiotherapy to support healthy development and functional independence.

“I am an American athlete playing volleyball in Greece. Last year I had surgery on my shoulder and this is my first season playing again. I had been to the office a couple years before just for adjustments but came back this year for my shoulder. I was getting treatment and adjustments for a few weeks and they got my shoulder feeling better then it had before my surgery. I was able to sleep on my shoulder for the first time in almost 4 years. They are the greatest people and I will forever be a patient when I am in Greece!”

“I cannot recommend Vaggelis highly enough. His attention to my extremely complicated foot issue was absolute and dedicated, ruling out steadily all the possible causes, even at a distance since I live so far from Athens. The insoles he made for me helped hugely with the metatarsal pain I was getting too. However, over time it became apparent that there was something more serious happening, which he narrowed down to a neurological disorder. Following his referral to a neurologist, I spent the next 3 months going through a whole series of tests which confirmed that I have a very rare neurological disorder causing demyelination of the nerve sheath. The symptoms are often confused with many other problems, so it is notoriously difficult to diagnose. Had Vaggelis not referred me as soon as he realised this, I would not be at the point of now receiving treatment and hopefully on the long road to recovery. I am so very grateful to him. He is also an extremely nice person!”
