Evagelos S. Dimou - Rousoulentsis
History
Origins and early beginnings
Evagelos Dimou comes from Edessa, a small town in northern Greece, about 90km northwest of Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece. His family roots extend back to the village of Xanthogia, 25km north of Edessa, and until 1969, all the relatives of Dr. Dimou's family lived in Xanthogia, their main occupation being farming and agriculture. In 1812, one of Evagelos’s ancestors began experimenting with Chiropractic techniques, initially inspired by observing lame animals. He gently palpated their painful limbs and discovered that specific manual manipulations helped restore function and mobility.
Empirical foundation
Over time, as these basic techniques yielded positive results, local villagers began consulting him for musculoskeletal issues. Word spread, and Chiropractic adjustments became sought after for relieving pain and restoring movement. This early empirical practice laid the foundation for the family’s commitment to chiropractic care.
Scientific continuation
The art of chiropractic was passed down through generations. Evagelos Dimou represents the fourth generation of this tradition. From a young age, he spent countless hours learning hands-on from his father. Unlike his ancestors, who focused primarily on practical techniques, Evagelos combined this deep practical grounding with formal education at internationally recognised institutions — earning both academic qualifications and clinical expertise.
From “Roushelovo” to Athens — The Origin of the Name
In northern Greece, local dialects often produced unique place names. The village of Xanthogeia was colloquially called “Roushelovo”, and its residents became known as “Rousoulentsis.” Evagelos Dimou continues to honour this family tradition today by using the name as part of his professional identity in Athens, where he now practices as both a chiropractor and a scientist.
Blending tradition with modern care
Throughout his career, Evagelos has combined the hands-on art of chiropractic with scientific knowledge and modern therapeutic principles. His brother, Christos, is a trained physiotherapist, and together they integrate clinical science with traditional chiropractic wisdom to deliver comprehensive care.

“I am an American athlete playing volleyball in Greece. Last year I had surgery on my shoulder and this is my first season playing again. I had been to the office a couple years before just for adjustments but came back this year for my shoulder. I was getting treatment and adjustments for a few weeks and they got my shoulder feeling better then it had before my surgery. I was able to sleep on my shoulder for the first time in almost 4 years. They are the greatest people and I will forever be a patient when I am in Greece!”

“I cannot recommend Vaggelis highly enough. His attention to my extremely complicated foot issue was absolute and dedicated, ruling out steadily all the possible causes, even at a distance since I live so far from Athens. The insoles he made for me helped hugely with the metatarsal pain I was getting too. However, over time it became apparent that there was something more serious happening, which he narrowed down to a neurological disorder. Following his referral to a neurologist, I spent the next 3 months going through a whole series of tests which confirmed that I have a very rare neurological disorder causing demyelination of the nerve sheath. The symptoms are often confused with many other problems, so it is notoriously difficult to diagnose. Had Vaggelis not referred me as soon as he realised this, I would not be at the point of now receiving treatment and hopefully on the long road to recovery. I am so very grateful to him. He is also an extremely nice person!”
